Thank you for visiting my vocal instruction page. I look forward to talking with you about our shared heart’s desire – singing! Together, we will cultivate your musical mind. Serious students of all ages and stages are welcome!

teaching philosophy

Everyone can sing in some fashion – no doubt about it. But singing well, whether for professional aspiration or personal development, is a matter of study! Gentle, clear guidance from an experienced teacher, plus dedication on the part of a student, equal the successful development of solid, lifelong vocal technique.

what you’ll learn

In my studio, you’ll learn to know your instrument, read music, sight-sing, practice effectively, achieve excellent breath management and body alignment, develop consistently beautiful tone, listen well and critically, prepare for auditions, conquer intonation problems and deepen your understanding of rhythm. Vocalists also learn to extend the range, use clear diction, harmonize and sing in ensemble. Repertoire development and foreign language diction are emphasized. Everything is done in harmony with your goals. My teaching has been influenced by my own professors, my experience as a performer, the methods of LoVetri, Peckham, Marchesi, Liebling and others. My teaching is additionally informed by the work and writings of Jacques Dalcroze (Eurhythmics), Karl Orff, Zoltan Kodaly, and Andy Beck. Also, as appropriate to each student’s personal goals, performance festivals and competitions, RCM examinations, and other special opportunities are pursued.
